CPD/CPT Series
China Financial Market: Challenges and Opportunities
(co-organized with IAFM HK)

After 30 years of economic reform, China slowly emerges into the world economy. The importance of China has been more prominent since the outbreak of the financial tsunami in 2008. While some people see it as a challenge; many sees it as a business opportunity. So how exactly does “Made in China” affecting the country and to the world? Is the entrance of so-called Chinese cheap labor bad to the world economy? How to profit handsomely from China’s booming economy?

These emerging questions were critically addressed at our CPD/CPT seminar “China Financial Market: Challenges and Opportunities” which was jointly organized with International Academy Financial Management Hong Kong Chapter (IAFM HK) on 9 February 2010. Our distinguished speaker, Mr. Kent Poon, Director of China Business Development, First State Investments (HK) Limited, has generously shared with us his insights into the China Fund Management Industry, QDII and QFII.

“We all know our motherland will lead the world in not less than 50 years time. But there are many challenges facing companies that wish to enter the Chinese market. We need to identify where the blooming marketplace locates. What is good about this seminar is that, Kent has been able to provide concise analysis of the Chinese financial market, it gives me a new window to spot opportunities and threats.” said Mr. Lawrence Yu, Financial Analyst, member of KORNERSTONE.
