Tech Secure Forum 2010: Security in the Software Development Lifecycle, jointly organized by (ISC) and KORNERSTONE, was successfully held at the Hong Kong Club Building on 16 July 2010.

The insights through how important of ensuring security is in every phase in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) was exchanged among notable guest speakers, including Dr. Samson Tam, Member of Legislative Council (Information Technology); Anthony Lim, Director (Asia Pacific) of IBM Singapore Pte Ltd.; Freddy Tan, Vice-Chairperson (ISC)2 Board of Directors; Chief Security Advisor of Microsoft Asia; Daniel Eng, Founding Chairperson of PISA and Alex Hung, Vice President of iProA.

“I see an urgent need for the application developers to get themselves familiar with adding security feature in every phase in the SDLC. For so many years, developers tackle flaws lead to security concern only at the testing stage, which is right before the product’s launch. This is definitely faulty and unintelligent,” said Mr. Clayton Jones, Head of Business Development (Asia Pacific) of (ISC)2 at the panel discussion.

If we can provide a robust, stable, reliable and secure digital infrastructure, we can attract innovative and powerful applications to be launched in Hong Kong. The name of “the digital platform for the region” is definitely an absolute advantage that’s worth Hong Kong to strive for. To achieve this, we need lots of security talents.” Dr. Samson Tam, Member of Legislative Council (Information Technology).

To provide participants with ways to become certified experts in security, two featured information security certifications of (ISC) including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional, CISSP® and the Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional, CSSLP® were introduced.

Corporations have always been cautious when choosing a right candidate to fill in a position that could safeguard or damage the entire company.
