Post Event Release
7 August 2009

"It was excellent. I appreciated the visionary views of the speakers.  It is true that the management fee remuneration rather than the transaction fee remuneration is the long term system that will benefit our clients and bring us to share exactly the same goal with our clients."
Ms. Cherry Wong, Wealth Manager.

"This forum is one of the most insightful events that I have participated in 2009.  Thank you for inviting me and I will definitely recommend my colleagues to participate in the next event organized by KORNERSTONE and IAFM HK. Thank you."
Mr. Johnson Law, Senior Financial Advisor.

"The sharing of the speakers was inspiring.  It encouraged me to do better for my clients."
Mr. Tony Tse, Financial Planner.

The event, organized by KORNERSTONE Institute and Hong Kong Chapter of the International Academy of Financial Management (IAFM), ended with a big round of applause on 7 August 2009.  It attracted almost 200 wealth managers and financial practitioners. They appreciated the forum as a platform to sharing the responsiveness, the sensitivities and the priorities in this rapidly changing landscape especially after the financial tsunami.

The renowned speakers were prominent figures namely Mr. Cho Yan Chiu - Director of the Hong Kong Economic Journal, Mr. Tony Mak - Senior District Director of American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited and Mr. Paul Pong - Chairman of Pegasus Fund Managers Limited.  In the opening keynote, Mr. Cho sincerely shared "Why I am here today is because I want to share what wealth management is.  Wealth management should not be product and commission oriented, which was proved a failure after the financial tsunami.  Wealth managers should act based on the needs of the clients and aim to protect the clients under today's ever changing economy." Mr. Tony Mak and Mr. Paul Pong also agreed and encouraged the practitioners to privatize their career as wealth manager by enhancing their capability so as to provide excellent service to the clients and achieve a mutually win-win situation.

"I am honored to moderate the panel discussion 'Privatize Your Career as Wealth Manager.' Our panelists have provided us the insight that resurrection of the wealth management industry is not attained by economic recovery, but the real reform of the service model.  Solution-focused service approach, fee-based remuneration and upgrade of professional knowledge are all critical success factors in the new era of wealth management." said Mr. Jack Tsang, President of the Hong Kong Chapter of the International Academy of Financial Management (IAFM).

"We are delighted that the event was so well received by the wealth management professionals.  It was not only an enlightening event but also a meaningful one since all income will be donated to the Sowers Action.  Thank you for your support - the speakers, participants and all supporting organizations including the Hong Kong Society of Certified Insurance Practitioners, Lexis Nexis, Life Office Management Association, Society of Registered Financial Planners and Quam Hong Kong Limited." said Ms. Catherine Chan, Managing Director of KORNERSTONE Institute.
