The Annual Symposium on Risk Management 2010

The Annual Symposium on Risk Management 2010 was held with a big round of applause on 16 March 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Renowned heavy-weighted speakers from different sectors provided over 1,000 professional practitioners and senior executives of IT and finance field their insightful perspectives in encompassing the rapid evolution and innovations of risk management globally.

Finance Morning

Mr. Charles Grieve, Senior Director, Securities and Futures Commission shared with us a regulator’s view on the risk management core of effective corporate governance.
Mr. Peter Wong, Past Chairman, HKIoD, Managing Director and CEO, Taifook Securities Ltd demonstrated how to enhance corporate governance and to control the environment from a risk management perspective.
Mr. Simon Topping, Partner, KPMG, zoomed on the risk management of Chinese banks and analyzed how they keep up with the latest international requirements.
Mr. Philippe Carrel, Executive Vice President, Risk Management, Thomson Reuters, introduced a risk intelligence on how to implement a culture of risk management.

Technology Afternoon

Dr. Meng Chow Kang, (ISC) Advisory Board and Chief Information Security Officer, Cisco Systems Inc outlined the contemporary information security challenges to organizations and shared the secrets of overcoming such challenges.
Mr. Sunny Lee, President, The Hong Kong Computer Society; Executive Director, I.T., The Hong Kong Jockey Club shared with the audience the best practice of managing technology risk.
Mr. Erik Laykin, Past President, FBI Infragard; Managing Director, Duff & Phelps, LLC discussed a recent report and cases on the global risk of hacking and cyber crime.
Ms. Patty Wong, Founder Chairman, PMI Hong Kong Chapter, analyzed the risk management from a project management perspective and concluded that it is our choice to determine whether project risk is a curse or a blessing.
